Question: How much will my donation rebate be?

Answer: The maximum allowable rebate has increased over the years:

For the year 01 April 2001 to 31 March 2002 and previous years

If you made donations of $1,500 or more, your rebate will be $500.

If your donations were less than $1,500, your rebate will be one third of what you paid.

For the year ended 31 March 2003 to the year ended 31 March 2008

If you made donations of $1,890 or more, your rebate will be $630.

If your donations were less than $1,890, your rebate will be one third of what you paid.

For the year 1 April 2008 to 31 March 2009 and future years

The maximum threshold for donations has now been removed. You will be able to claim a one third tax rebate, up to a maximum claim equal to your annual taxable income.

For example:

If you paid donations of say $9,000 you could claim one third of that $9,000 i.e  $3,000, as long as your taxable income was at least $9,000.

Answer: If you made payments of $940 or more, your rebate will be $310.

If your payments were less than $940, your rebate will be one third of  what you paid.
